Dr. DeLisa Fairweather, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine, Immunology and Clinical Translational Science in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, USA where she directs translational research.
Dr. Fairweather’s research uses sex differences in disease as a tool to discover new therapies for cardiovascular and autoimmune diseases. She has received grants to fund her research for the past 15 years from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the American Heart Association (AHA). She is a standing member of the Atherosclerosis and Inflammation of the Cardiovascular System (AICS) study section for NIH and chair of AHA Innovations in Basic Science study section. She also serves as a grant reviewer for the EPA and Department of Defense.
Dr. Fairweather is a Fellow of the American Heart Association. She serves on the board of the Atwal Foundation and Scientific Advisory boards of the Myocarditis Foundation, the International Academy of Cardiology, and the International Society of Cardiomyopathy, Myocarditis and Heart Failure. She is also an active member of the Organization for the Study of Sex Differences, currently serving as Councilor and chair of the Awards Committee.
